Restoring the old Credenza

John and I have been working for days, no, weeks, on our bedroom.  It was in severe need of a facelift.  Of course, not the only one in need of a facelift. Among the many projects was situating the TV for comfortable, laying in bed and watching TV times.  We didn't want to just hang the flat screen and stare at the dangling wires from the wall so we moved the od white and gold credenza to the bedroom and gave it a try.

UH OH! The TV sat too low.  So John built up the top with this nice box.  I didn't know this was a talent of his.  Now he is in trouble, Honey-do's here I come!

Of course we couldn't leave it this awful color so now for the refinishing.  Loving Paris and all things French, I wanted the room to have a feel of being on vacation in France.  I searched hundreds of pictures of painted french furniture and settled on a distressed turquoise color.

Just one problem, I have never distressed furniture! Oh, and would a GIGANTIC turquoise piece look okay? With trepidation we proceeded.

The piece needed something extra, more decorative, so I used wood appliques from Lowe's and just glued 'em on.
Next I started painting.  Too dark! Back to the store for more paint.
Okay, that is better.  Now glaze with a darker color and a lighter cream color.  Tedious and tiring but now we have the perfect piece.
